CHAPTER  1 TEST for 5 lessons
1.   Complete the sentence with  one word  meaning "illegal or dishonest behaviour". 
Toni is worried about  corruption  in the company Rocky Foundation. 
"Corruption " is illegal or dishonest behaviour, especially by people in authority. 2.   Listen. Which word is missing from Toni's incomplete last sentence? TRUE =   Frank mentions "giving gifts to friends" to mean" bribing " business associates. 4.  Mr Greene offered the mayor a kickback in exchange for the contract. Mr Greene tried to "bribe " the mayor in order to get a contract. 5. " While the extravagant bonuses  awarded to top managers  were technically within the law and therefore  (поэтому)  not forms of corruption, many consider them corporate  sleaze. "A kickback "  (взятка, откат, вознаграждение)  is a form of " bribe " (подкуп, взятка) . We also say " to bribe  someone".

Governments need to find ways to stop  fraud  in both the public and private sectors.  =  The word " fraud " has the same " au " sound and spelling as in " launder ". 9.  Fraud   affects many business people, with many victims of scams   being asked for bank transfers for urgent causes." Fraud " is a crime; a " scam "  (афера)  is a  deceptive   (обман),  usually illegal, scheme or trick. 10.  Scams  are further examples of the  sleaze  that is pre  valent    (широко распространенный)   in some industries.
