Elijah! where have you been? I haven't seen you at the last three book club meetups, what happened?

Elijah

What's up Maddie? Yeh, I know, I've missed everyone too, but the truth is that I just wasn't really that into the book we had to read last month. To be honest, I gave up reading it half-way through so I didn't see the point in coming to the discussions. It's not like I'd have been able to contribute much.

Maddie

Oh really? I thought that one was a real page-turner! I couldn't put it down.

Elijah

Maybe it was the genre. I'm not usually into historical fiction, so I found it a little heavy going. Too many long names and I couldn't grasp the relationship between the characters.

Maddie

Ah that makes sense, I'm a real history geek so I guess that's why I found it so riveting. I studied that whole World War 2 period, so I guess it made more sense to me.

Elijah

Yeah, it just wasn't really my thing. But I'm enjoying the book for this month way more - the characters are so relatable!

Maddie

We must have completely different taste in books. I mean, it's been ok, but it hasn't exactly blown me away so far. I was expecting it to be better because there's so much hype around it, but I'm beginning to think it might be a little overrated.

Elijah

Overrated? No, way! It's a cult classic! If anything, I'd say the book's underrated. I can't understand why it hasn't been turned into a movie yet, it'd be perfect for the big screen.

Maddie

Well, it's early days - I'll give it a bit more time and I'll let you know next week if I change my mind!
