Making workplaces safe

Learn vocabulary for talking about health and safety

A safe working environment is one where employees feel secure and there is no danger of injury or incident.                                                    Безопасная рабочая среда - это такая среда, в которой работники чувствуют себя в безопасности и не существует опасности травм или инцидентов.

A "health and safety inspector"("инспектор по охране труда и здоровья".) checks workplaces to make sure they are "safe working environments". 

"Инспектор по вопросам гигиены и безопасности труда" проверяет рабочие места, чтобы убедиться, что они являются "безопасными рабочими местами".

What is the health and safety inspector checking for?

" A health and safety Inspector is coming next week to check the office.  She'll be looking for hazards (опасности, риски)  in the work environment that could cause harm to your physical safety.

A "hazard" is something dangerous that can cause damage.

These are fixed phrases: "a safe working environment", "first aid training" and "a health and safety officer".

A "risk assessment" is the process of identifying any hazards or risk factors that could cause harm.

A "risk assessment" allows a company to identify potential hazards and remove or reduce them.
